Culture in Common

Culture in Common, a New Forest arts and culture programme, is asking people from Gypsy and Traveller communities in the New Forest, to contact them if they have an idea for a creative project they would like to make happen up to March 2025.

Gypsy and Traveller communities have played an important role in the history and heritage of the New Forest, and Culture in Common is committed to creating work with Gypsy/ Traveller residents and celebrating their contributions.

A project idea could cover any aspect of creativity, such as arts, craft, music or theatre. The team has been talking to residents about reviving endangered crafts such as leatherwork, hazel fence-making, halter-making and chap-making. Get in touch if you like the sound of these, especially if you are part of a group that wants to sign up for a set of free pilot workshops.
