Photography student searches for GRT subjects

Documentary photography student, Chloe Borkett, is searching for GRT community groups to feature in her final year project.

Having written her thesis on identity and minority groups, Chloe was shocked by the ongoing persecution and isolation which is a feature of Traveller life.

Her photographic project will aim to focus on the positives, aspects of heritage...hobbies, jobs - things that make us all the same.

The main intention is to subvert preconceived ideas held by mainstream society concerning the identity of GRT communities. Formal portraiture will be employed using a traditional large-format camera.

With the help of willing participants is is hoped that the project will collect a visually representative cross-section of the community including Irish, Scottish, Roma and Showman - young and old.

Anyone interesting in helping Chloe should email her at cborkett@hotmail.com or call 07725 192 687.
