Marc Willers (together with Sharon Baxter of the Community Law Partnership) acted on behalf of Maria Buckland, a Romani Gypsy, in the European Court of Human Rights.

The Court held that Ms Buckland's Article 8 rights had been violated in a case where she had been denied the possibility of challenging possession proceedings brought in the UK courts on the grounds that a possession order would be disproportionate in view of her personal circumstances.

The Court awarded Ms Buckland just satisfaction of EUR 4,000 (non-pecuniary damage) and EUR 4,000 (costs and expenses).
