Heartless thieves target Traveller families

4 November 2014

A distraught family from Terrington St Clements is counting the costs after more £15,000 worth of Crown Derby china was stolen as they slept in their beds.

Owner Debbie Young said thieves broke in to their bungalow on Father’s Day, early in the morning. “I can’t believe what they’ve done: they took all the big items, pieces that had been handed down through the generations.

“They even stole my children’s photos, stored in one of the pieces of china. It’s not the money that I’m so sad about – the collection just meant so much to us.” Debbie added that none of the china was insured.

Norfolk police say the break in happened in the early hours. "The items included two Florence figurine stands, approximately 20ins tall: one of a female wearing 1920s fashion - a cream coloured ankle length dress and hat. The other is of a female wearing a shawl and carrying a bunch of flowers standing in a wooden mahogany base."
