LABOUR equality laws will be a green light for thousands of new Gypsy sites, it was claimed last night.
Harriet Harman’s Equality Bill will favour travellers’ planning applications because of the many “socio-economic” problems they face.
Critics believe councils will be too scared to turn down sites and will give Gypsies preferential treatment. The warning comes after doctors were told to stretch out travellers’ consultation times and schools were told to give them priority.

Ann Brooks said she learned of district council plans for an eight-pitch traveller encampment adjacent to her garden on Salisbury Road from a contractor working in the field behind her home.
