Q. Is it safe to sign up to the 'Join in' section of the website?
A. Yes, noone will be able to see your name, email address or any other contact details. We ask you to choose a Nickname, so that your identity is protected.We will never pass your contact information on to any one else.
Do not fill out forms online in other websites without consulting your parents or teachers. There are websites which seek personal information and which use this information for marketing or other commercial purposes. Always check a website's privacy statement. This describes what a website will do with your information.
Q. What shall I choose for my nickname on the 'Join in' sign up?
A. Be aware when choosing your nickname or email username not to pick a provocative name. Do not use your real name in full.
Q. Is it safe to give my personal details out to someone over the Internet?
Do not give out any personal information related to your family, friends or yourself like full names, addresses, telephone or mobile numbers or those of your parents. Other information like the name and location of your school or details of school activities can also identify you to others. Sometimes there are people who watch out for such information, and they can put together a picture of your activities over a period of time that could be several weeks. So be careful with what you say, and never give out your personal details.
Q. Are the comments moderated?
A. Yes, all comments get monderated by the Travellers Times team before they are published on the website.
Q.Who can put in an event?
A. Once a person has signed up to the 'Join in' element of the sie, they can post events onto the event calendar. This service is intended to help people around the country know where and when relevant events for the community are taking place. The section is not for advertising, so please use the 'Report this Event' facility to let us know about anything that doesn't look right and we will remove it.
