The council evicting travellers from the illegal part of Dale Farm in Essex has won an injunction to prevent its reoccupation, the BBC has reported.
Basildon Council sought the injunction following reports that former residents had stated they would return to the site once bailiffs had finished clearing the 51 pitches that had been declared illegal.
The BBC also reports that all 51 plots have now been cleared. Exactly what the word 'cleared' means depends on the pitch in question: on some plots hard standing has been removed, leaving nothing but loose earth upon which it is impossible to place a caravan or chalet.
Dale Farm was previously used as a scrapyard prior to being bought by Travellers for residential use.
